Tech City, sometimes better known as East London Tech City or the Silicon Roundabout, is home to some of the city's most impressive companies in the world of tech and innovation. Because of its reputation as a space where new and exciting things are happening in business, it’s also a regular hive of activity. Here's what's coming up this month in the local area...

The LinkedInn

This pop-up careers service in Shoreditch is ideal for those eager to take their first steps on the tech career ladder, or network and make some new connections. These events take place throughout the year, offering careers guidance and the chance to meet professionals and talent scouts at businesses like John Lewis, Lloyds Banking and many more. Prospective candidates could soon find themselves on the way to a new job, and those simply interested in meeting new talent or discussing industry news and issues are also in luck. If you're career-minded and staying nearby at the Montcalm London City Hotel, this is an event sure to provide plenty of inspiration.

Jack the Ripper Mystery Walks

Running throughout March and April, these themed walks take visitors on the trail of famous Victorian serial killer Jack the Ripper. Hosted by 'Ripperologist' Paul Mansfield, you'll be able to find out lots more about each victim and retrace the steps of a man whose true identity still remains a secret. Whilst certainly not a 'tech-led' event, it does provide a fun, if slightly macabre, way to discover this part of the city in a new way while staying at the Montcalm London City Hotel.

Vintage Markets

The area which encompasses Tech City is always home to some incredible markets, and this month is certainly no exception. The Brick Lane Vintage Market brings you the very best of vintage fashion courtesy of one of the city's most fashionable districts. If you're looking for some unique finds while enjoying spa packages in London, then this is a great place to start.

Columbia Road Flower Market

Far from tech-focused, but nonetheless a mainstay of the local area, the Columbia Road Flower Market provides a fantastic window on Shoreditch culture every Sunday. Here you can haggle with local sellers for some stunning floral arrangements, or simply take in the sights while browsing an otherwise tech-savvy part of London.

Local Cinema

Film, theatre and independent arts venues are all over Tech City, providing a way for busy entrepreneurs to unwind. However, many of the artistic venues in this area bring a new creativity and ingenuity to everything from the films and plays they show, to the venues themselves. Electric Cinema is a fine example of this, with a decidedly more luxurious spin on the cinema-going experience than is often found elsewhere in the UK. Expect plush seating, individual lights and a reinvented take on the glamour and sophistication of visiting the theatre in prior decades.
