4 sights every professional visiting the City of London must see

London is one of the most visited cities in the world, and it’s easy to see why. There’s lots to explore and do and it’s also a thriving centre for international trade, making London an appealing destination for business trips year round. During the average trip to the capital, even the most intensive business visit is sure to have its breaks – and that’s why we’ve compiled this short guide to the sights you must see when you visit the City of London, to help you make the most of any visit.

The London Eye

Whether you feel like taking a turn on the London Eye yourself or simply viewing from the security of the terra firma, this London landmark is very impressive. Comprised of 32 capsules which can each hold up to 25 people, a trip on the London Eye gives you a thirty minute view of the city’s skyline from an unparalleled vantage point. It makes for a great way to cram lots of attractions into one single destination by giving you a bird’s eye view of some of the city’s other great buildings while you stay at the Montcalm Royal London.

The Tower of London

Taking a tour with one of the Tower of London’s Yeoman Warders is a trip into the history of not only London, but the country itself. As a palace-turned-prison, the tower has seen its fair share of notable residents. Today, it’s home to the Crown Jewels and a variety of different prison cells with plenty of stories to tell. At one point, the Tower was even home to the UK’s first ever zoo – in stark contrast to some of its gloomier anecdotes. With 900 years of history to discover, this is the perfect way to find out more about some of the key events which have helped to shape the City of London.

The View from the Shard

If the London Eye didn’t provide vistas enough, then you can rise even higher above the city skyline courtesy of the View from the Shard, which offers panoramic scenes of destinations like St Paul’s Cathedral, the Wembley Stadium and the London Eye itself. As western Europe’s tallest building, this is one not to be missed by adventurous professionals – and it’s the perfect spot to take a selfie during your visit to one of our hotels in Finsbury Square.

Buckingham Palace

What trip to London would be complete without at least passing by the official London residence of Queen Elizabeth II? The venue doesn’t open to visitors until the summer months, but there’s still plenty to enjoy from the outside – and once 21st July rolls around the stunning State Rooms and a special yearly exhibition take centre stage, delighting audiences from all over the world with a little uniquely British pomp and ceremony. Before summer arrives, there’s the famous Changing of the Guard each day to enjoy, ideal for engaging with the best of the city’s traditions.
