The Coolest Stars on Stage this Month and Where to Find Them

London is somewhere that actors love to come and tread the boards of the West End, and there are number of shows in June featuring some of the most popular and talented actors in the world. From TV stars to bona fide Oscar winners, there’s a rich array of talent on stage in June around the capital.

So, if you’re looking for an evening of amazing stories, talented actors and beautiful venues, look no further. Read on for where the stars are this June and how you can see them.

Aidan Turner – The Lieutenant of Inishmore

Aidan Turner first got his big break in the BBC Three smash ‘Being Human’ playing a sometimes good, sometimes evil vampire. He came to wider, mainstream notice as Captain Ross Poldark in the same-named ‘Poldark’. He set hearts aflutter with his impressive physique and smouldering screen presence, leading him into major-league stardom. Now you can see him in person until September in The Lieutenant of Inishmore, playing at the Noel Coward Theatre. It’s only a twenty-minute Tube from our hotels near Old Street Station, so you don’t have very far to go.

It’s a black comedy from Martin McDonagh – the writer/director behind ‘In Bruges’ – and follows Aidan Turner’s Mad Padraic as he seeks revenge for the death of his cat. There’s much more to it than that, but we won’t spoil it. Secure yourself some tickets and be prepared for a dark, hilarious and touching story about one man’s attachment to his beloved moggy.

Mark Rylance - Othello

Mark Rylance won an Oscar back in 2016 for his role in ‘Bridge of Spies’ and is widely regarded as one of the finest British actors of his generation. Now he’s taking on the role of Lago in Shakespeare’s classic about jealousy, rage and betrayal.

Held at the Globe Theatre until October, this staging of Othello is powerful and wonderfully directed. Rylance brings a coiled, duplicitous menace to Lago, as he plots and schemes to bring down his rival in life and love, Othello. The Globe Theatre is a 15-minute Tube journey from your Montcalm City Hotel London and if you’re in one of our hotels near Old Street Station, you’ll have no trouble getting there.

Orlando Bloom – Killer Joe

Made as a film a few years ago and starring Matthew McConaughey, Orlando Bloom is now inhabiting the role of the eponymous Killer Joe.

Joe is someone unfettered by conscience and basically functions as a destructive force on whoever he is around. He has no morals and he has no loyalties, except to himself. It’s showing at Trafalgar Studios with Bloom until mid August and it’s just a short 15-minute hop from any of our hotels near Old Street Station.

Killer Joe is a very dark and sometimes shocking story, but ultimately revolves around the responses of characters who are facing up to someone who is essentially a malevolent force of nature. Seek it out and you won’t be disappointed.
