What to expect from a trip to Boxpark in Shoreditch

When you usually visit a shopping centre or mall, you know what to expect. Most of the high-street brands will be in attendance and there will probably be a couple of coffee shops and eateries scattered about. Boxpark is different.

Housed in old shipping containers, founder Roger Wade describes it as, “the world’s first pop-up mall”. It’s fun, it’s cool and it’s a very unique experience. Boxpark Shoreditch (there’s one in Croydon as well) also has a great deal to offer in terms of food, drink and retail. Boxpark is less than ten minutes from the Montcalm Royal London, so you don’t have far to travel to see it.

Shopping

If you’re going to the mall, you want to shop! Boxpark has all manner of interesting boutique offerings, so you won’t be short of options if you’re after some retail therapy. If you’ve grabbed a London hotels special offer, this is the perfect place to snap up a memento with your savings.

If it’s some chic jewellery you’re seeking, you might want to check out Astrid & Miyu. The mission statement here is contemporary, locally designed and produced pieces at an affordable price. Astrid & Miyu combine hand-worked pieces with 3D printing and the results are almost obscenely cool.

AOC EDIT actually has another sister store in Boxpark – Absence of Colour. Both offer great, modern clothing and are worth checking out. AOC EDIT is more about on-trend, unique homewares, but there are some great clothes here as well.

If it’s a new watch you’re after, The Camden Watch Company is a wonderful place to snag a new timepiece. It’s an Anglo-Swiss run company and everything is designed and made in their Camden Town headquarters. Pieces take their names from local bus routes – No. 24, No. 88 and so forth – and the craftsmanship really is something special.

Food & Drink

If you’ve been perusing London hotels special offers and find yourself at the Montcalm Royal London, Boxpark has some fine eateries.

Black bear Burger is a husband and wife-run enterprise and offers offering amazing quality beef burgers, sides and chicken, with a focus on only using the best ingredients and locally sourcing where possible. It’s simple, well-made food that will definitely satisfy your appetite.

Dum Dums Donutterie offers a place to sate your sweet tooth. There’s an array of amazing donuts on offer and all are freshly baked daily. Dum Dums prides itself on producing a healthy, great tasting alternative to fried donuts. Such is their prowess, Dum Dums doughnuts are patented in Europe and the US!

If you’re full after sampling the amazing eats on offer, it might be time for a coffee. Small Batch Coffee is an award-winning coffee company with eight outlets across Brighton, Hove, Worthing and now Shoreditch. They’re very serious about sourcing and brewing the best organic coffee possible and they succeed every day. The feature seasonal coffees from around the world, so there’s a high chance you’ll get to try something new and unique.
