Shoreditch, Silicon Roundabout and Hoxton in London

They may be some of the lesser known districts of London, but there’s plenty to see and do in and around Shoreditch, Silicon Roundabout and Hoxton.

Fast becoming creative hubs with their cutting-edge galleries, latest technological innovations and great nightlife, these areas are a must-visit for anyone wanting to see a buzzing new side to London from our hotel Finsbury Square.

Read on to discover exactly what these up and coming districts have to offer for visitors to the city.

Shoreditch

From quirky indie boutiques to plenty of trendy bars, Shoreditch is a great place to visit if you’re looking for some retail therapy with a difference. With an array of independent shops stocking a variety of goods that you won’t find in the capital’s bustling Oxford or Regent Street, fashionistas, anime lovers and those seeking a little something different flock to the area to experience a different side of London away from all of the usual tourist attractions.

As well as plenty of weird and wonderful retail opportunities, the area also hosts the weekly Brick Lane Market where you can pick up anything from vintage fashion to collectables and handmade crafts from local artisans that set up shop on the street to showcase their wares.

There’s also a lively bar and nightclub scene at Shoreditch, with some amazing alternatives to the sleek city centre bars you’d expect to find in London.

Shoreditch is easily reached from the Montcalm Hotel London City on foot, so there's no need to worry about taking taxis or public transport if you're planning a visit to the area.

Silicone Roundabout

Europe’s answer to Silicone Valley, Silicone Roundabout was created as part of the UK Government’s initiative to transform this part of East London into a tech city and is now home to several big names in the tech sector who use this as a base for their UK HQ.

As well as being the UK home of tech thought leaders and new innovations, there’s also plenty of bars featuring an array of live music gigs to be enjoyed here. And, as it’s only a stones throw from our hotels Finsbury Park, you can party into the small hours without worrying about how to get back to your hotel room.

Hoxton

Trendy Hoxton is famed for sleek bars, upmarket boutiques and emerging contemporary art galleries. With a touch of the avant-garde, visitors and locals alike can enjoy everything that Hoxton has to offer thanks to its excellent public transport links.

Those staying at the Montcalm Hotel London City needn’t worry about visiting Hoxton either, as the area is a steady twenty-minute stroll away or just five minutes journey in one of London’s iconic black cabs.

There’s always something going on in Hoxton including art exhibitions or live music, so it’s a great place to spend a few hours the next time you make a trip down to London for a few days.
