How to Get From Shoreditch to Central London

Shoreditch is one of the most exciting and thriving parts of London, for both work and pleasure. However, if you’re staying in Shoreditch and want to explore more of London around the capital, you’re never too far away from what’s on offer, as it’s easy to get around through a number of ways. With so much of offer throughout the capital, including a wealth of history, culture and fantastic entertainment, it’s always worth enjoying an adventure in the city.

Finding the best transport connections around Shoreditch

For guests staying at the Montcalm Royal London House, there are a number of transport connections to help you travel across London from Shoreditch, depending on where you’d like to go. If you’re planning a journey, it’s worth taking the time to check your route first, so that you can enjoy the quickest and easiest journey.

Within minutes of walking distance from the Montcalm Royal London House Hotel, you’ll find Old Street station, which is served by both the Northern Line on the Underground, and train services for journeys beyond London. The Northern Line is an ideal route to take if you want to get into some of the key attractions around central London, with London Bridge, and the variety of things to do around the area, just a few stops away.

It’s important to note that the Northern Line has two different routes that run via Charing Cross station and Bank station, and if you’re trying to get to the other line, you will need to change trains at Euston. The different lines are clearly marked at their respective platforms within the station, and easily accessible. If you’re planning to explore the city and want to be back in time to spend the evening around the restaurants and bars in Shoreditch, you’ll need to make sure that you allow the relevant travel time to do so.

Shoreditch is also served by an Overground station at Shoreditch High Street, which can be found close to many of the main restaurants and bars in Shoreditch. While Overground services generally run a little slower and less frequently than Underground trains, it can also be an efficient way to get around, especially if you’re exploring more of East London. You’ll find regular trains running from Shoreditch to the stylish neighbourhoods of Hoxton, Haggerston and elsewhere, where’ll you can find a variety of great things to explore, including enticing food markets, trendy nightlife venues and great food and drink.

A little further away from the main heart of Shoreditch, you’ll also find a number of other Tube stations to help you get across the city with speed. Liverpool Street station is served by a number of lines, including the Central Line, which is a fast and efficient way to get across central London, and the perfect route to take if you want to take a shopping trip in the busy areas of Oxford Circus or Bond Street.

As well as train services taking you from Shoreditch to other parts of London, you’ll also be able to find regular bus services, both day and night. Other forms of transport, including taxis and private hire cars, are also readily available.

Planning what to do around London

When you’re staying in Shoreditch, there is plenty to experience and discover, from the fantastic variety of restaurants, coffee shops and bars, to great places to shop and excellent nightlife. However, with so much else to offer around the city, it’s well worth planning to spend some time exploring London too.

To make it easier, it’s a good idea to map out your journey ahead of time, to help you work out how much time you’ll need to spend travelling. This is especially important if you are heading for an event that will take place at a particular time, or need to catch another connecting journey on a schedule.

While Shoreditch is well connected with many major lines, you may need to change connections in certain cases. If you’re planning to explore the variety of major museums located in West London, such as the Victoria and Albert, National History Museum or the Science Museum, then the best station to head to is South Kensington Station. This is easily reached via the District Line, which you can catch at Whitechapel Underground Station. If you’re planning to attend a major performance or event at the O2 Arena near North Greenwich, then the simplest route is to head to Canada Water via the Overground, before taking the Jubilee Line.

Wherever you plan to head to in London, most major destinations can be found close to a Tube or Overground station, making it reasonably easy to get across.

Check times before you travel

While it’s easy to travel around London from Shoreditch, it’s essential to take the times that public transport runs in the city, into account. During the week, Underground and Overground services run until approximately midnight, and do not start again until around 5 or 6 am in the following morning. If you’re travelling in the city late at night and need to get back to Shoreditch, make sure that you leave enough time to catch the last train across.

Alternatively, you can also find several Night Bus services that operate across the city. While these take a little longer, they can provide a secure and reliable service.

You will also find Night Tube services running close to Shoreditch on Friday and Saturday nights, where Underground trains are available throughout the late night hours. These are available on Northern and Central lines, which can are both reasonably close to access from Shoreditch, as well as other lines across the city.
