Old meets new – traditional and modern sights to add to your RLH itinerary

London is filled with some truly incredible sights, and continues to evolve as a city which is continuously on the move. We've compiled this guide to help you make the most of your visit, with some of the best traditional and modern sights the city currently has to offer. Combine them into your itinerary to enjoy the very best slice of London during your stay with us.

Tower of London

A mainstay of the city for hundreds of years, the Tower of London was once a palace, then a prison, and is now one of London's most significant tourist attractions. Having been constructed nearly a thousand years ago, the tower is an imposing sight – but visitors can tour it and discover more about the history of the place and some of the most significant former prisoners, thanks to the resident 'Beefeater' guards who take care of the venue.

Westminster Abbey

Forever linked with the Royal family, Westminster Abbey has hosted many coronations and royal weddings, as well as being the resting place of some of the nation's most significant figures from the arts and sciences. Well worth exploring for the stunning architecture and history visible all around you alone, this is one sight not to be missed during your stay at the Montcalm Royal London House.

London Eye

Since being installed at the turn of the new millennium, the London Eye has become a familiar sight to Londoners, and one of the city's most significant tourist attractions. Welcoming countless visitors year after year, not only can you enjoy the sight of this enormous Ferris wheel from the ground, but you can also take a spin in one of the thoroughly modern viewing capsules. Choose a more luxurious trip by opting for an upgraded experience with a range of added benefits like renting a private pod or enjoying a glass of champagne during your trip to the Montcalm Royal London House.

St. Paul's Cathedral

Another of London's oldest and most significant buildings, St. Paul's Cathedral is as grand as places of worship get and it also contains plenty of British history. This imposing domed building should be part of everyone's itinerary and as a working cathedral, it's the ideal mixture of old and new.

Shakespeare's Globe

Restored to its former glory and kept to the original structure and site, the reopened Shakespeare's Globe provides a stunning example of what is possible when modern innovation mixes with a love of history! Famed Elizabethan playwright William Shakespeare's plays were performed here hundreds of years ago – but you can see them performed live today in exactly the same venue.

View from the Shard

One of the best ways to see the city, the Shard provides a bird’s eye view of the city from its tallest building. The highest bar in the city provides the ideal space to relax and unwind – and grab some incredible photos from angle you won't be able to see anywhere else.
