London is a great place to be in the summer, with a seemingly endless selection of events to enjoy. Londoners love nothing more than to make the most of the sunshine with open-air events suited to all tastes – here's our pick of the very best to look forward to...

Trooping the Colour

8th June 2019

This annual event is sure to impress guests at hotels in Shoreditch who are eager to discover more about London's royal heritage. Each year, the Trooping the Colour event celebrates the Queen's official birthday with a stunning spectacle fit for the monarch, including thousands of Household Cavalry, hundreds of horses, a parade and a fly-past at Buckingham Palace by the Royal Air Force.

No matter when the monarch's real birthday is, Trooping the Colour is always celebrated in June, in the hope it'll mean better weather for the crowds that gather to watch. If this all sounds like your cup of tea, then head to the Mall to get a great view. We recommend arriving early (everything officially starts at 10:30am) as lots of people stake out a spot the night before. There's no need to go to these extremes, but be sure to get an early train to ensure the best experience on the day

ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

30th May - 14th July 2019

England has a national obsession with cricket, and the ICC Cricket World Cup brings together the best cricketing talent from around the world to enjoy six weeks of incredible sportsmanship. As an open-air event with widespread appeal, tickets are already selling out fast – with pivotal matches set to take place at Lord's Cricket Ground and The Oval. If you can't get a ticket to the event itself, then look out for the many pub gardens and sporting venues which will be screening cricket matches live while you enjoy Montcalm hotel deals this summer.

Outdoor cinema is a popular way of enjoying the summery weather while also experiencing a great evening of entertainment, and there's plenty of fantastic venues and films to choose from thanks to Rooftop Film Club. This event provides a carefully curated selection of movies throughout the summer months, screened on enormous open-air screens.

Accompanied by food and drink, this is a chance to see a range of classics and new releases with the glorious backdrop of the London skyline, all while staying at hotels in Shoreditch this summer.
